Gene Zercher

Gene Zercher teaches Biology, Biology II, Human Anatomy, and Physiology. He has been teaching for 37 years and was hired at NorthWood in May, 1973.

His most memorable experiences include: students who took pride in their education; students who have become successful doctors, nurses, pharmacists, and other healthcare providers; NorthWood girls basketball team state championship; NorthWood football state championship; NorthWood boys basketball's first sectional title; football semi-state victories over Hamilton Heights, Griffith, and Fort Wayne Dwenger; and wandering Indiana as a freshman football coach on numerous scouting assignments.

He graduated from Nappanee High School in 1969 and attended Butler University. He received his B. S. in education from Butler in 1973 and completed his M. S. in Education from I. U. in 1978.

He and his wife Paula have three children. Charlie and his wife Trisha have a son Jack and a daughter Ava. Amy is married to Jake Klotz. Ben cares for his elderly parents and attends NWHS.
